Collection: Adhesives, Fillers & Glues
Not all adhesives and glues are created equal. It is important to use the right glue for the right application. Using the wrong glue can cause call backs and expensive mishaps. Below is a quick reference guide to glue.
- Polyester and Polypoxy - These are cheap, easy to use glues that use a paste hardener in a tube. They are suitable for interior applications only, and not in showers or wet areas.
- Acrylic - Acrylics are popular for their ease of use and the high shine when polishing. They are more UV stable than Acrylics, but still not suitable for exterior use. They typically come in knife grade cans, flowing cans and cartridges.
- Epoxy - Epoxy resin color is not UV stable, but the structural bond is. They will hold your pieces together outside, but over time they will fade or turn yellow, however the strong bond will remain.
- Urethane - These glues have all the same features as epoxy, PLUS they are UV stable and non-bleeding. This is critical with very porous materials. They are more finicky to use than epoxies, as the curing time can be affected by ambient temperature and humidity. These are usually the most expensive type of glues, but it's cheap insurance against the issues some of the other glues may have.
